The most popular national parks for a safari in Sri Lanka are Yala National Park in the south east, Wilpattu in the North West and Udawalawe in the south. Yala National Park and Wilpattu National Park in Sri Lanka are well known for their spectacular year-round Leopard sighting opportunities.

Yala National Park is one of the biggest jungles in the country is also known as the Ruhunu National Park.Yala is also home to hundred species of birds, endemic and foreign, including the jungle fowl, Sri Lanka’s national bird, and flocks of peacocks. Yala also has a beach front and swamps haunted by crocodiles. Elephants are the Park’s main attraction although leopards are seen frequently and sloth the bear occasionally.

Udawalawa is a  second largest park for  herds of wild elephants. Udawalawe National Park is locate around at Udawalawe reservoir .It is branch of Walawe River.During a visit, it is not unusual to see whole herds of adults and young elephants– feeding or bathing and playing in the water! In addition to this main attraction, the park is home to many water buffalo, water monitor lizards, sambar deer, monkeys and the occasional leopard, as well as being an exciting location for bird enthusiasts.

Wilpattu National park is especially known for its oldest  park and  population of Leopards and Sloth Bear. It comprises of a unique complex of lakes called Villus, which are natural basins that are filled up with rainwater and are surrounded by open grassy plains set within dense scrub jungle.
